Under the umbrella company, Comcast, one of the United States’ largest internet and phone providers, Xfinity Mobile was launched in 2017 and has since garnered 2.8 million subscribers by the end of 2021. Xfinity Mobile is Comcast’s wireless mobile provider, which is used alongside your pre-existing TV services and internet.

Pros of Xfinity Mobile
Cheap and flexible plans
Xfinity Mobile offers data in two different plans: Unlimited or By the Gig. 5G is offered on both plans at no extra cost, as long as you have a 5G device that can support it, as well as living in an area with a 5G network. Both plans come with free unlimited text and talk.
Within the By the Gig option, 1G, 3G, and 10G plans are offered. 1G costs $15/mo, 3G costs $30/mo, and 10G costs $60/mo. By the Gig is shareable data that can be used by yourself, friends, and family. These minimum GB options can be exceeded if needed at an additional price of $15 per GB with the option to switch lines to Unlimited.
The Unlimited plan with 5G costs $30/mo per line when you get four lines. You can get Unlimited on your own for an affordable price or take advantage of multi-line pricing by adding lines.
No contract required
Your Xfinity Mobile plan can be canceled within 30 days of your next billing cycle date and you are only responsible for payments on your account for that current month. Within the first 30 days, you can cancel your device and return it with a $35 restocking fee.
Fast wireless network
Xfinity Mobile uses Verizon’s network, which offers the best coverage nationwide.
With a 5G device and access to a 5G network, download speeds of around 450Mbps and upload speeds around 50Mbps can be expected. With such speeds, you can save on data with WiFi and have your favorite shows, movies, and podcasts in no time.
Verizon’s network allows for smoother default streaming. You can video chat or watch live streams with clear resolution at home or even on the go.
Online gaming is more fluid with 5G, with less lag and latency when starting your next challenge or during your gaming experiences.
Nationwide hotspots
Xfinity Mobile has millions of secure WiFi hotspots operating at 3G speeds with 5G and 4G LTE nationwide.
With your Comcast subscription maintained your connection will automatically switch over to an Xfinity WiFi hotspot when one is in range. Using WiFi instead of a cell tower already represents an increase in speed. If you’re not on an Unlimited data plan then it will still help you save in data charges.
World-class customer service
Xfinity Mobile has the best customer service rating among MVNOS.
Mobile from Xfinity is a fairly new service, so there was not a lot of information out there concerning their customer service until late. But according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) Wireless Service and Cellular Telephone Report for 2019–2020, Xfinity Mobile dominated the charts for full-service MVNOS.
Cons of Xfinity Mobile
Available only for Xfinity internet users
Xfinity Mobile’s service is available only to those who have Xfinity internet already. A disadvantage is that Xfinity doesn’t have any bundle deals to attract new customers. Put differently, you can’t get any discounts for signing up for both Comcast Xfinity cable TV and Xfinity Mobile. It can be a hassle to change internet and phone providers so it is quite the downfall on Xfinity’s side since they have no additional perks regarding easing that process.
Data throttling
4G LTE data speeds are throttled, capped, and slowed. This means the internet provider imposes limits on the amount of data you’re able to move whilst completing online activities.
4G LTE download speeds of 5-12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2-5 Mbps can be expected. However, once you reach their soft data cap (20GB in this case), your speeds will be reduced to almost nothing (1.5Mbps download and 750 Kbps upload).
Xfinity’s throttling also spans to mobile hotspots, which are capped at 600Kps. That’s incredibly slow, which is alright to access basic websites and email but don’t expect to stream anything of much at those speeds.
Poor selection of supported devices
Xfinity Mobile’s largest downside has been device selection, only catering to top flagship companies such as Apple and Samsung. However, they recently have only begun to broaden their selection of devices, especially Androids.
iPhone users will notice an up-to-date selection whilst android users will be stumped at their select options. The iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 11, and iPhone SE are available. As for the android selection, the Galaxy S21, Note 20, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6, Galaxy Z Flip 3 as well as the Fold, and Galaxy A series are available.
If you prefer to bring your own phone, Xfinity Mobile allows iPhone users to bring their own device as long as it is newer than an iPhone 6. As for the Andriod devices, this service is restricted to select Samsung and Pixel models.
